Forecasting within CBE

The future of competency-based education has some certainties and uncertainties as we forecast into the next decade.  Some of the certainties are that the number of K12 schools/districts, colleges and universities, and businesses that look to incorporate and invest in new CBE programs.  According to the 2020 AIR Report, which surveyed institutional leaders across the country “82% of the institutions expect the number of CBE programs to increase in the next 5 years”.  Over 128 current intuitions currently offer CBE, with the number rising.

An illuminating aspect is how one CBE program differs from another.  In speaking to many leaders, academic deans, and program directors many are trying to navigate their way through what CBE means for them and their students. Each program, even within institutions can operate differently.  How do these differences translate for the student? What are best practices that these institutions should use? How does the design of a program connect with student services, faculty pay, faculty development, registrar, financial aid, back-end systems? At CBNext, we are different than most consulting companies, as we have over 40 years of CBE experience, and have built from the ground up successful programs that yield high retention rates and that are profitable and scalable.
Whether you are considering launching into the CBE space, or have an existing program that you need assistance to make it a world-class student experience.  CBNext is here to assist in the process.
